Abstract

Thisarticle aims primarily to introduce Patricio M. Janer (1882–1965) and his writings to scholars and students of Philippine history and literature. Janer was a writer from Sorsogon province who published most of his writings in the Bikolnon and Bikolana magazines. Thisarticle collates data on Janer’s life from various sources, including those gathered by Bikol pioneer scholar, Maria Lilia F. Realubit. It attempts an initial reading of Janer’s works, particularly his essays and short stories (osipon), as a clearly engaged participation in the process of writing the nation from the discursive position of a Bikolnon.KEYWORDS: PATRICIO M.
