Abstract
This article explores the origins, evolution, and significance of the rite of adoration of the cross as it is presently found in the Good Friday liturgy. It offers not only a comprehensive survey of sources but also a commentary on the rich theology and symbolism of this profoundly moving ritual. By highlighting the ritual’s meaning, the paper underscores the Adoratio Crucis as a profound expression of the Church's reverence for the Passion of Christ and its role in fostering a deeper connection to the mystery of the Cross in the life of the faithful.
