About Us

Loyola Papers is the peer-reviewed Student and Alumni Academic Journal of the Loyola School of Theology (LST), published twice a year in October and March. Revived in 2020 to promote scholarly research among students and graduates, the journal provides a platform for emerging theologians to share their academic work with the wider theological community in the Philippines and beyond.

Originally published from 1971 to 1986, Loyola Papers was described in its front matter as “a series of occasional papers and informative studies on contemporary issues in Christian doctrine and life.” During its first run, it featured articles by faculty members, selected student contributions, and documentation of significant ecclesial events. Its revival in 2020 strengthens LST’s commitment to forming thoughtful theologians capable of engaging the Church and society in diverse cultural contexts.

The journal supports the vision of LST’s Asian Theological Program by encouraging theological reflection arising not only from Filipino and Asian perspectives, but also from African, Latin American, and other lived realities. It welcomes student and alumni contributions that foster creative dialogue between Christian faith and local cultures, while also accepting other forms of serious academic theological inquiry.

Through Loyola Papers, LST continues its mission of nurturing new theological voices in service of the Church and society, providing a peer-reviewed forum for rigorous scholarship and meaningful engagement with contemporary theological questions.
