Abstract
This article examines the theme of priestly solidarity in Albert Vanhoye’s theology, highlighting its scriptural roots and christological fulfillment. It contrasts the Old Testament priesthood, marked by separation and ritual purity, with Christ’s priesthood, characterized by radical solidarity through the Incarnation, suffering, and death. Drawing from the Letter to the Hebrews, this paper argues that Jesus redefines mediation and holiness through compassionate identification with humanity, establishing an “existential priesthood” grounded in self-offering and filial obedience.
