Abstract
This article analyzes the rising incidence of youth suicide in Kerala through the framework of Bowen’s family systems theory. It argues that dysfunctional family relationships often lead young people to detach and seek substitute communities, which may reinforce negative behaviors. The paper also considers contributing factors such as social media use, unstable relationships, and emotional isolation. As a pastoral response, it proposes a therapeutic approach centered on family systems, particularly addressing parental roles and reducing anxiety within the family unit.
