Abstract

This article examines the Baci-Soukhwan ritual as practiced within the cultural context of Laos and its adaptation within the Catholic Church. Noting the absence of official ecclesial guidelines regarding this widespread cultural practice, the study identifies points of convergence between the ritual and Christian faith as well as areas that require clarification. By addressing possible misunderstandings and doctrinal concerns, the article argues for a careful process of inculturation that allows the faithful to integrate cultural traditions with their Christian beliefs in a meaningful and harmonious way.
