Abstract
This paper examines the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC)’s Theology of the Laity and its relevance for forming leaders in the local Churches of Asia. Grounded in the ecclesiology of the People of God articulated by Second Vatican Council, the study highlights the dignity, charisms, and co-responsibility of the baptized in the Church’s mission. It analyzes how the Institute of Formation–Fondacio (IFF) Asia’s basic formation program embodies the FABC vision of a “new way of being Church” through holistic, communitarian, and missionary formation. The paper argues that empowering the laity through contextual formation fosters discipleship, leadership, and active participation in evangelization within Asian societies.
