Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the Thai concept of bap vis-à-vis the Catholic doctrine of sin. It makes use not only of dictionaries and literary sources but also mines cultural expressions such as folk tales and popular songs as well as films, soaps, and television dramas. Beyond the attractiveness of its creative and quite novel methodology, however, the paper points out profound ways by which the intersection of the notions of bap and sin can mutually challenge and enrich each other, thus leading not only to a better understanding of transgression but even of God, humanity, and the world.
