Abstract

This article offers a theological reading of Proverbs 2:1-11 as a sapiential text on the formation of the human person in the religious life and explores its implications for Jesuit formation. Through attention to the literary and theological movement of the passage, the article identifies four formative movements: the active search for Wisdom, its reception as a divine gift, its ethical expression, and its interior integration. These movements provide a biblical lens for examining three risks in Jesuit formation: overprotection, careerism, and sterile intellectualism. The article argues that in Proverbs 2:1-11, Wisdom is a gift that transforms the heart and becomes a lifelong journey of conversion toward justice, discernment, and mission.
