Perspectives in the Arts and Humanities Asia
Abstract
Excerpt: One academic discipline in the Philippines that can use more sourcebooks is music. In a time when basic education in music is combined, perhaps impractically, with the study of art and physical education, it is better to provide teachers with sources that present the complex connections between music, culture, and nation. In this regard, Saysay-Himig: A Sourcebook on Philippine Music, edited by choral conductor, Philippine Madrigal Singers alumnus, ad scholar Arwin Q Tan, is a welcome addition.
