Abstract

Excerpt: By almost any standard—quality, quantity, variety—2016 must be accounted as possibly the most fruitful year in memory for theater in the Metro Manila area. A cursory survey of theatrical offerings over the year indicates that, at least from mid-January until mid-December (when the holiday break called a halt), there was barely a week when at least a couple of shows, and sometimes as many as four or five, were not on offer.
