Abstract
Excerpt: Rama Ramachandran is the executive director of the National Book Development Council of Singapore and is one of the founders of the AFCC. A keen advocate of reading, writing, and publishing, he has served actively in the development of libraries in his country as seen in his previous appointments as the director of the Singapore National Library; as deputy chief executive of the National Library Board of Singapore; and as secretary of the General International Federation of Library Association and Institutions (IFLA). He was given the Library Association of Singapore’s Lifetime Contribution Award in August 2013 and the award for Excellence in Book Promotion in the Afro Asian Region by the Afro Asian Council in India in February 2014.
