Abstract
Excerpt: Ramon “RayVi” C. Sunico is the author of the picture books Two Friends, One World (1991); Ang Nawawalang Araw (1991); and Ang Inuwi ni Nanay (2003), and the publisher-editor of several picture books and young adult novels, including Tall Story by Candy Gourlay, winner of a 2012 National Children’s Book Award. RayVi is the pioneer of the bilingual text format (English/Tagalog) of Philippine picture books and was part of the group responsible for the modernization of book design and publishing in the Philippines. He was the first to teach a course on children’s literature under the Interdisciplinary Studies Program of the Ateneo de Manila University. As an editor at Anvil Publishing and a member of the Philippine Board on Books for Young People, RayVi is developing a new line of Philippine children’s and young adult novels.
