Abstract

Excerpt: Arturo Rogerio Dimayugo Luz (born 29 November 1926; died 26 May 2021) was a visual artist known for his paintings, sculptures, collages, photographs, and jewelry design. He is also recognized for his contributions as a cultural manager. He founded the Luz Gallery in 1960 and concurrently spearheaded three cultural institutions in the 1970s—the Design Center of the Philippines, the now defunct Museum of Philippine Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. He was conferred the National Artist award for visual arts in 1997.
