Abstract
Archbishop Antonio J. Ledesma, S.J., in his catechesis “Amoris Laetitia on Natural Family Planning,” presents Responsible Parenthood and Natural Family Planning (NFP) as central to the vocation of families, in line with Amoris Laetitia. Couples are called to exercise freedom responsibly by discerning their personal and social circumstances, guided by a well-formed conscience. Echoing Pope Francis and the bishops, Ledesma highlights the relational and moral benefits of NFP, including fostering tenderness and authentic freedom within marriage. The RP-ANFP program in the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro has reached over 28,000 couples in 17 years, with the Standard Days Method gaining significant acceptance. Recognizing diverse cultural and religious contexts, the program promotes informed conscience formation through families, schools, and churches. Ledesma’s All-NFP initiative supports all modern NFP methods, rejects contraceptive integration, and collaborates with government agencies to advance a holistic, values-based approach to family life.
