About This Journal
Landas (the Filipino word for “way”) is the peer-reviewed academic journal of the Loyola School of Theology at Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines. Established in 1987, Landas is published twice a year, in October and March, and promotes rigorous theological scholarship from a Philippine and broader Asian perspective, addressing contemporary theological questions and contributing to the ongoing development of theological reflection by scholars living and working in Asia.
From its inaugural issue in 1987, Landas expressed a clear vision: it hopes to make a modest contribution toward responding to the need for published material written by authors living and working in the Philippines and Asia. The title Landas carries venerable biblical significance. While this was not the first theological journal to adopt the name, the founding editors were drawn to it for its capacity to express a fundamental reality regarding theological reflection, that faith is a pilgrimage, a way of life, and an authentic orientation toward Christ and the world — a metaphor for the theological journey undertaken by both authors and readers.
Since its inaugural issue in January 1987 (Vol. 1, No. 1), Landas has been published regularly and continues to serve as a forum for scholarly dialogue that engages Scripture, Christology, Ecclesiology, Spirituality, Mission, and other theological disciplines in the context of the Church and society.
