This approach centers on scrutinizing the “signs of the times”—a locus theologicus originating with Pope John XXIII. Kroeger emphasizes that evaluating these signs requires a blend of sociological analysis and theological reflection. Ultimately, Francis advocates for genuine discernment of God's will within contemporary societal events, embodying the proactive, engaged perspective of a missionary disciple.
