Abstract
Addressing the critical degradation of the global biosphere and ecosystems driven by relentless economic development, this paper offers a vital critique of modern ecological policies. While frameworks like those from the 1992 Earth Summit aimed to reconcile economic growth with environmental conservation and resource equity, Babor argues that these strategies remain fundamentally inadequate for protecting the planet's non- renewable assets. Ultimately, the paper contends that the unbridled exploitation of finite resources inherently undermines the earth's capacity for regeneration, challenging the long-term viability of current sustainable development paradigms.
