Abstract

In his exegetical study of Hosea 3:1–5, Felipe Fruto Ll. Ramirez identifies three essential, linked elements that convey the prophet's integral message: allegory, interpretation, and outcome. Hosea’s first-person life narrative serves as an allegory, where his symbolic actions are interpreted to reveal how God deals with an unfaithful Israel. The predicted outcome combines temporary punishment and political-religious divestment with an ultimate healing effect. This divine strategy of enduring love triumphs over infidelity, ultimately eliciting deep repentance from the people, who will afterward return to seek the Lord their God and their future restoration.
