Abstract
This article examines the harmonization of the Catholic liturgical calendar with indigenous cultural expressions in the Philippines. Drawing on the Second Vatican Council's directives for liturgical renewal, Ofrasio explores how traditional Filipino devotions—such as the Simbang Gabi novena, Pasyon readings, and various patronal fiestas—intersect with the universal liturgical seasons. The paper analyzes the theological necessity of adapting external rites to echo local sensibilities while preserving original liturgical integrity. Ultimately, Ofrasio emphasizes that successful inculturation deepens popular piety, transforming the liturgical year from a historical framework into an active, culturally resonant celebration of faith.
