Abstract
In this address delivered on the occasion of the launching of the LST-LHS Golden Jubilee Celebration on September 12, 2015, Catalino G. Arévalo, S.J., reflects that the Loyola School of Theology was providentially established to implement the Second Vatican Council’s transformative vision across the Philippines and Asia. Coinciding with the Council’s 1965 conclusion, LST became a foundational force in shaping the region's Catholic Church. The author details LST's integral contributions to historic milestones, including Pope Paul VI’s 1970 visit, the formation of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences, and the guidance of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines. Ultimately, the text highlights LST's enduring Jesuit mission: providing solid intellectual and spiritual formation firmly rooted in Ignatian tradition.
