Abstract
Past life, wika nga.
English Abstract
From the “Poetics”: In truth, I could no longer remember these works. Like written by a different person. Past life, as they say. Although as in a dream, there are parts I barely remember. But as a whole, a cleared slate. Like those nights you were so drunk and you could not remember the next day except for a few shards of a second at best. One of my favorite prayers—that I composed music for—is the Prayer of Silence of Saint Francis of Assisi. “Let your love flow through me.” It is true that one of my fathers in writing (poem/story/whateveritis) “Ako” (twenty two pages) is [Alejandro G.] Abadilla’s poem “Ako ang Daigdig.” I composed music for Abadilla’s poem “Ako ang Daigdig” for my band The Brockas. I recited the poem “Ako ang Daigdig” for my film “Ruined Heart”/ “Pusong Wazak.” I used Abadilla’s poem “Dilim, Mutyang Dilim” as an intertitle for the short film “Book of Storms and Darkness” / “Aklat ng Bagyo at Dilim.” Although Abadilla and I have these collaborations in music and film, I consider/am aware that my idol/influence in Filipino poetry are Jose F. Lacaba, Emmanuel Lacaba, Rolando S. Tinio.
