Abstract

Bahagi ang akdang “sensoradong konsumérebyu: mga sampol” ng mas masaklaw na proyektong may tentatibong pamagat na konsumérebyu. Nagsimula ito noong niligalig ang bansa ng sabayang bigwas ng pandemya at pasismo. Bahagi ng proyekto ang mga set na siya namang binubuo ng lima o higit pang mga screenshot na may itinatakdang “constraint” o kaya’y tema. Sa set na ito, ang mga rebyung “hidden” (hindi lang nakatago kundi itinago ng app) ang palilitawin. Muling nagkaespasyo ang mga rebyung iwinala o itinago (sadya man ng tao o awtomatisado ng programa) sa konstruksiyon ng manuskrito ng “sensoradong konsumérebyu: mga sampol,” kung saan sila makapagpaparamdam. Tinalakay sa talang “Impertinensiya at Kawalang-bisa” na ang orkestradong digital na pagmumultong ito ng mga iwinalang piraso ng rebyu ay halimbawa ng tinatayang “halaga” ng mga anyong mala-pampanitikan sa lipunan at rekognisyong malapampanitikan “lang” naman ang mga ito, kung kaya’t kalabisan ang atake rito sa pamamagitan ng sensura. English Abstract

The work (or “set”) “censored konsumérebyu: samples” is part of an extensive (and perhaps yet-to-be realized) project tentatively titled konsumérebyu, which began at a time when the tandem of state fascism and the pandemic makes daily living more uncertain and the rising death toll less unstable. With a designated “constraint” or theme, each set (some in circulation, some remain drafts) usually comprises five or more screenshots of reviews “published” via shopping apps. Resurfaced, the selection included in this particular set showcases “hidden” (not by accident, but by intent of the app, its moderators, or their algorithms) reviews. These write-ups that should have been out of sight have been re-claiming their rightful space, from the process of constructing this manuscript to its resulting publication. The note “Impertinence and Futility’” discusses, among others, how such an orchestrated digital haunting serves as evidence of the supposed relevance of forms that are “semi-literary” and as acknowledgment that these are mere works of “semi-literature.” In other words, the apps’ act of censorship (usually reserved for texts deemed by authorities threatening enough to be purged) committed against the samples herein is nothing short of an overkill. This set features (or recovers) more than 20 hidden reviews.
