Abstract

nakagawiang pagtuturo na may diin sa gramatika at komunikasyon. Ang ipinapanukalang dulog ay nagpapatingkad sa ugnayan ng wika at kulturang Filipino. May iba’t ibang aspekto ang ugnayang ito ngunit itinatampok ang pagtingin sa wika bilang “daluyan” o “sisidlan” ng kultura. Gayumpaman, hindi humihinto ang pananaw na ito sa enumerasyon lamang ng mga tao, lugar, bagay, pangyayari, konsepto, at iba pang sagisag-kulturang Filipino, at sa halip, laging iginigiit na ang kultura ay dinamiko, kolektibo, at may ginagalawang konteksto. Naglatag din ng isang kongkretong modelo, at halimbawang aplikasyon, sa pagsusuri ng mga cultural domain o pangkulturang larang na nakatuon sa wika. Sa huling bahagi ng papel ay iminungkahi kung paano puwedeng ituro sa konteksto ng K-12 ang wika at kultura na nakabalangkas ayon sa wika ng paglalarawan, wika ng pagbuo ng kahulugan, wika ng pagtugon, at wika ng paglahok.

English Abstract

The paper presents a language teaching approach that veers away from the traditional form of teaching language which focuses on grammar and communication. The proposed approach emphasizes on the link between language and Filipino culture. There are different aspects in this, but language is highlighted as an outlet and receptacle of culture. And yet, this view does not limit itself to simply listing down people, places, objects, events, concepts, and other forms of Filipino cultural symbols, instead, it pushes for the concept of culture as dynamic, collective, and within a context. A specific model is also presented, and its application, in analyzing cultural domains or cultural fields pertaining to language. The concluding part of the paper proposes on how language and culture can be taught in the context of the K-12 program, with focus on how it is outlined according to the language of describing, language of defining, language of responding, and language of participating.
