Abstract
The constant pursuit of mobile telecommunications advancement and educational accessibility has highlighted the Philippines’ digital poverty and expanding digital divide. With the commitment to align with cellular standards, enhance learning competencies, promote disaster resilience, and address the pervasive knowledge deficit, this research revamps the Ateneo Innovation Center Education Cloud system. This study introduces internet connectivity and administrator interface for remote content updates, addressing the current resource-intensive operations and maintenance of the Edu-Cloud. Pre-deployment mobile network performance tests across various environments revealed a spectrum of connectivity level scenarios, from good-deep indoor coverage areas in Ateneo de Manila University with -66dBm 5G and -76.7dBm LTE signal power, to outdoor coverage-only areas with at least -120dBm. The results are comparable across Rizal and Bulacan test locations, with a fair to excellent signal quality of -15dB to -3dB and diverse signal-to-noise ratio from -9dB to 28dB. The integration of remote-control software with the administrator interface allows dynamic and non-service affecting content modifications, tested on both mobile and satellite networks. The platform, demonstrated remotely, offered superior performance over previous iterations, with reliable data transfers with 3.92GB peak data capacity and 556Mbps mean throughput in one minute. Performance combined with scaling estimate cost savings, and time efficiency, proved the platform’s viability and scalability as a dynamic information content distribution system for education and disaster resilience reaching underserved Philippine regions.
