Abstract

The purpose of this study is to expand current knowledge on the group coaching experiences of leaders as they address organizational issues and challenges amid the COVID-19 crisis. The study utilized a qualitative approach in gathering and analyzing data from semi-structured interviews with 12 organizational leaders belonging to various organizations including IT/BPO, retail, advertising, manufacturing, telecommunications, and government. Data were gathered during the pandemic and analyzed using the analytical procedures of Moustakas (1994) for phenomenological research. Findings surfaced the disruptions brought about by COVID-19 in organizations and in the execution of leadership. Results also demonstrated how organizational leaders were driven to participate in group coaching sessions, as well as the challenges and outcomes they encountered. Findings highlighted the experiences of leaders in adjusting to the group coaching format and in addressing the problem at hand. The study surfaced the utility of group coaching during a crisis and pointed to some potential improvements to enhance the group coaching practice in the Philippines.
