Abstract

The continuing development of leadership conversation has opened up fresh interest to include leadership in the religious sector and an indigenous perspective of leadership. This qualitative research using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) tried to understand the experiences and meanings of the Indigenous communities of the Cordillera, Philippines. 14 participants from the different provinces of Benguet, Kalinga, Apayao, Ifugao, and Mountain Province were interviewed face to face using a semi-structured questionnaire with the main research question, "What is your lived experience of the CICM Missionaries?" The study demonstrated that the lived experiences of the indigenous communities of the Cordillera of missionary leadership yielded a missionary leadership paradigm. This paradigm highlighted the relationships of missionary leadership behaviors, roles, and outcome. This study suggested that these 3 major themes are interrelated to form a cohesive indigenous perspective of missionary leadership paradigm highlighting the importance of both behaviors and roles to effect personal and collective outcome.
