Abstract

This study used the Artful Thinking as an exploratory approach to determine if there was a change in students attitude and academic performance in a history class. A case study was employed, since it is a first in the Philippine setting. Results from the pretest and posttest of the attitude test and achievement test were analyzed by getting the mean and frequency distribution; A T-test was used to determine if there was a change in students attitude and academic performance. After the implementation of the Artful Thinking in the classroom, students attitude toward studying history and their academic performance improved. Through there inforcement of the thinking routines with the aid of visual art, students were trained to become more engaged in the discussion and to think critically.
