Abstract
Without a doubt, everyone experiences stress. There would be days when you feel so full to the brim with all the different tasks and duties you need to accomplish that you can hardly breathe. Though some people may view stress in a negative light, stress is an all-important natural reaction, where the body stimulates itself to attend to the situation. In difficult circumstances, stress is helpful because the body is preparing to face goals and obstacles: concentration becomes heightened, there is increased sensitivity to all incoming forms of stimuli, and energies are concentrated on solving a problem at hand. However, stress becomes problematic when the issue is beyond your capacity to handle, or when stressful situations come simultaneously or in waves of succession and you cannot cope, creating heightened or chronic stress experiences. In this chapter, we discuss stress in the organizational setting and provide a script on how you can take care of employees experiencing it.
