Abstract

Excerpt: From electoral politics to socio-cultural and economic relations, the forces of the ordinary have had a way of affecting the holders of power. In recent public discourse, the affective power of the ordinary is at times referred to in derided terms as a populist acquiescence. Something enduring, however, is at play in the underbelly of power. The ordinary can and has risen as a force with a capacity to reconfigure the disposition and legitimacy of power.
