Abstract
Asian bishops and general AsIPA (Asian Integral Pastoral Approach) assemblies have always insisted that the Asian Church has to be participatory. This is realized through Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs). BECs encourage lay participation in the life and mission of the Church, particularly in the parishes. BECs have brought a new dimension to the ministry of the Church. They have become a good platform to carry out new ministries. This article presents the teachings of the Asian bishops and the AsIPA in their final statements.
